Easter in San Sebastian: Three musts in the city
Easter is the perfect time for a getaway to San Sebastián. The city comes alive with atmosphere, energy and plans for every taste. If you’re visiting for a few days, here are three highly recommended activities:
1. Paseo Nuevo and Mount Urgull
From Hotel Parma, you can reach the Paseo Nuevo in just a few minutes – one of the most beautiful walks in the city, offering spectacular views of the Cantabrian Sea. From there, we recommend walking up Mount Urgull, full of history and charming corners. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views over the bay and the old town.
Tip: Take a different route down and enjoy a pintxo in the Old Town on your way back.
2. A meal in a traditional cider house
Easter coincides with cider house season in the Basque Country. Just a short drive from San Sebastián, in places like Astigarraga or Hernani, you can enjoy the full txotx experience: tasting cider straight from the barrel and savouring a traditional set menu.
It usually includes cod omelette, cod with peppers, grilled T-bone steak, and cheese with walnuts. A generous, 100% Basque meal.
Not sure which cider house to choose? Our reception team will be happy to help.
3. A cultural walk through the city’s churches
If you’re in the mood for a more peaceful plan, we recommend visiting three historic churches in the Old Town and city centre:
-
San Vicente
-
Santa María del Coro
-
Buen Pastor Cathedral
Besides their architectural beauty, many host special Easter events and services.
At Hotel Parma, we offer an ideal location just steps from the sea and the Old Town, so you can enjoy San Sebastián with total ease and comfort. Don’t miss the opportunity and come!
