On 24th June<\/strong>, Saint John\u2019s Day is celebrated \u2014 a festival with ancient roots that blends religious and pagan traditions<\/strong>. Although it is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, its origins lie in pre-Christian solar rituals<\/strong> that marked the summer solstice<\/strong> and celebrated the triumph of light over darkness. Fire<\/strong> was \u2014 and still is \u2014 the central element of this magical night.<\/p>\n

In the Basque Country<\/strong>, the night before (23rd June) is filled with bonfires, music and tradition. Jumping over the flames symbolises purification, renewal and good luck<\/strong> for the new cycle. In San Sebasti\u00e1n<\/strong>, neighbourhoods and squares light up, creating a unique atmosphere of celebration and spirituality.<\/p>\n
