Have you heard of “Txotx” in the Basque Country? From mid-January to the end of April, Txotx becomes a unique experience that immerses you fully in the rich culture of Basque cider houses. When cider season arrives, it’s as if the entire country enters a state of celebration. The cider houses open their doors and people gather to enjoy this ancient tradition.<\/p>\n

Imagine walking into a cozy cider house, the aroma of freshly brewed cider filling the air and the hum of lively conversations filling the air. The tables are set with dishes of cod, potato omelette and steak, authentic Basque delicacies that make your mouth water!<\/p>\n

But the star of the night is the cider, of course. The “Txotx” is the moment when the barrel is opened and everyone is invited to taste the cider directly from the vat. It’s quite a ritual. Txotx is sharing, it is toasting with friends and strangers alike, it is enjoying good company and good food in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. It is a tradition that unites people and celebrates Basque culture at its best. Txotx!<\/p>\n
